Post subject:  beware of a scammer called Russell Smith

I was selling my Samsung Galaxy Tab online through a website, and Russell Smith contacted me saying he's interested in my item. Then he told me he would transfer the money via Bank of America - they then contacted me and said that they will only give me my money after the item has been sent. So I sent the item - give them the benefit of the doubt - and they say it would take 2 weeks to process because it is an international payment. Fine, I waited. But it did not happen. This Nigerian custom said that the phone was a contra-band item so I need to send them money being the sender - but I wanted the money from Russell Smith to have the money to pay them - however again the stupid Bank of America did not send until I have paid. This time, I decided not to pay because it was unfair that I have already sent my item and NOT received my money at all. Mr Russell Smith went missing in action. How ridiculous is this? So now I do not have my money nor my item. It is SUCH AN EXPENSIVE LESSON!!!!

People please BE AWARE!!! This scam is horrid - I am only a STUDENT!!

How do you know you were talking to the Bank of America?

I am sorry that you had to learn this lesson the hard way. Scammers will do this with phone calls and emails . . . they pretend to be the bank (or a credit card company) to get your money or account info from you . . . or in this case the item you were selling.

To be sure that you are speaking with someone at the bank, you should always be the one to make the contact, and do not call a number that is given to you in an email or via the person "buying" the item . . . do a google search and look up the phone number to the bank yourself.
