I received this email from a friend of mine, who has some items listed on ebay. She got this email today and immediately thought of me. Anyone ever hear of this one? Although the buyer has a reasonable user rating, this whole thing stinks to me:

Question from eBay Member: Signature Lipstick, Tickled Pink lip polish

Dear feylin1,

Hi, my best friends are having a wedding in 3 days and I would like to make a present for them. I want it to be something special. For example your lipstick packed in a gift wrap with a card inside for a bride. Please let me know which colours and manufacturers you got in stock. Also I want to to send $500 via Western Union to a bridegroom as an additional part of my present. The only problem is I want to make them surprised and doesn't want them to know that the present is from me. I am looking for a seller who could help me with that. I will pay for a lipstick, packaging, express shipping and WU fees of course. They live in Ukraine, not in the USA. Please let me know if you could help me with that! I want you to ship everything to him directly and to send the money present via Western Union either. I could even pay you for a trouble let's say $200 - please understand it's very important for me! I hope to hear from you soon! Have a nice day!!! ___________

To view the item, go to: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 4162691882

Thank you,
beespajamas

:?:
My first question is this . . . they want to give the groom $500, but the bride is only getting a new lipstick?

And who would send a wedding gift of that amount of money but

And, if they REALLY are such good friends of theirs don't you think that they would know someone else who was going to the wedding and they could send the gift & money to that person to "deliver" to the wedding?

I would not walk away from this offer . . . I WOULD RUN AS FAST AS I COULD!

Hi Rosie,
Even if the person has a high rating on ebay - BEWARE, their identity may have been stolen and they may not know yet, I can pretty much guarantee if you contacted the real owner of that account, they will have no idea what you are talking about.
Remember this person can send money and lipstick themselves, why do they need to pay you $200 to do it for them????

I pretty much told my friend everything you just posted here. I thought it hysterical that they wanted to send the bride lipstick and the groom $500. Not to mention, they wanted the money wired (oh, WU when will you get your crap together) which means (if this were legit) they could get any monkey off the street to wire the money for them so their "friends" wouldn't know where it came from without having to pay them an additional $200. And lipstick...who gives lipstick as a wedding gift? And if I got lipstick as a wedding gift I would have died laughing!

Yes, I thought I all would enjoy this new twist on a scam. Luckily my friend learned much from what I taught her about scams and immediately notified ebay upon receipt of this email.

As Bill Engvall would say....here's your sign!

Is he the comic who says "Don't you wish the stupid people had to wear a sign so that you could pick them out of a croud?" and then he will give an example of someone being stupid and say "Here's your sign"? I had seen this guy a long time ago, but I could not think of his name.

Yes, Bill Engvall. He even has his own website: http://www.billengvall.com/

So many times at work I want to end telephone conversations with "here's your sign", but I refrain!
