I recieved a lettler from The US Customs and Border Protection stating that a check was seized by CBP in Indianapolis Indiana for the sum of $38,660.90. With a case number and a person to call Yvonne M Jefferson with CBP I need to know if this is a real letter or not I was told that this is a scam asking for $250.00 payment for the check or they would start Judicial proceedings against me. The Address I need to send the money to is 6747 Engle Road Middleburg Heights OH 44130 has anyone recieved the same kind of letter first is the cover letter with the case number and then Notice of Seizure and Information for Claimants form AF - Post which is 4 pages long. I did call CBP Hotline and they said it's a scam. but I not too sure who to believe because I did recieve a check for above amount. but it's counterfiet I was a payment rep for a UK company but all payments are counterfiet that I have recieved so far. I have stopped working with the company. So what should I do about the CBP letter?

If you called CBP and they told you it's a scam, then it's a scam. Just toss the letter in the trash.

THe CBP letter seems to be pretty common right now. You might email CBP protection and get it in writing from them it is a scam, just to cover yourself.

I am surprised they did not want a copy of the letter.

I called CBP and they told me that it's only a form letter they send out. and these scammers from Canada that are sending checks I told them I asked the company to stop sending me check because they were all counterfiet check. CBP told to burn the checks and have not contact with the company that is sending the checks from Canada. Thank God for websites like this to help people like myself.
