Post subject:  US CUSTOMS & BORDER PROTECTION

I need information. I have just received 2 different documents from the US Customs and Border Protection department. It claims that I have an interest in 2 different checks that are for $79,500.26 each. They have been seized as counterfeit. I have NO idea what they are talking about nor do I know how to answer them. I obviously have been scammed, victimized and flabbergasted. What do I do? Can someone give me some direction? :?:

Did they provide you with a copy of the checks?

There had to be a narrative with this, what are the circumstances surrounding this "seizure" of counterfeit items?

Has your bank contacted you, or have you contacted them?

NO I did not get a copy of anything. They have sent me a NOTICE OF SEIZURE AND INFORMATION FOR CLAIMANTS FOR AF - POST. It is 4 pages along with a cover letter stating the Case No. The 4th page I has a form to check for election of proceedings. The interior says that the domestic value of the property was determined to be under $250.00. I have 30 days to complete the form attached. However, it makes no sense. How on this planet can I be named in something that I have no clue what they are talking about?

Naturally, I panicked. I have no desire to go to jail. I will go to these web sites and hopefully I can get it straightened out.

It sounds like the scammers are phishing for your personal information.

Call your local Federal Law Enforcement, any one of them FBI, Secret Service, DEA, Atf, or ICE and bring them that document they will get you into contact with the proper person.

I doubt that is a government document.

Keep us informed

The information that should be sought here is this:

1. did you ever answer an email or other advertisement requesting your help, or offering a business transaction or work at home opportunity collecting payments for a company over seas?

2. To what extent have you had contact with a scammer?

3. This very well could be a legit letter from customs if this poster has had contact with a scammer in any way. All it takes is for a scammer to get your name and address and walla a check could be sent with instructions to help them cash it, no other communication needed for this to happen.

4. There should be a number to call and contact customs along with a claim or article number on the letter, I would call and ask what this is about.

5. You want to know where the envelope is coming out of and inform border patrol that you are not expecting anything and have not expected any sort of a package from anyone. Let them know that you are fearful of this being some sort of a scam attempt.

Do not ignore it, if it is legit the government could get mighty hostile at your ignoring them.

No matter what you want nothing to do with whatever package it is. Itis my bet that this is coming out of possibly Canada? if so there is a gang cell or several there and they do send checks out across the border.

Keep it short and simple with Customs remember that what you say can be held against you so do not elaborate just get the facts and state the fact that you are expecting nothing, dont know what this is about.

Post subject:  US BORDERS

I googled phone number on the letter and it belonged to private investigator web site - mystery shopper scam. In fact, the US Border letter is posted on this website. Thanks for helping keep a cool head. :D

I removed the phone number from the above post because I googled the number in order to go and look at the site, and I think that it downloaded a virus onto my computer.

Jane . . . it is fine . . . I was not pointing any fingers at you for trying to send out a virus, but I did want to remove the information in case anyone else googled the phone number in order to look at the site.

I just want to keep our members safe. And our system caught it, contained it and deleted it with only one minor problem to fix, so all is fine.
