I fell for a scam last year. It wasn't until recently that I saw 'The Real Hustle', a British tv show about 'cold readings' that I did a search on the internet. I had no idea it was all a ruse and I was dumb enough to fall for it.

She took a lot of money from me but I'm hoping it's not too late to get it back. But what should I do now? Is there a procedure?

1) file police report
2) file a complaint with consumer affairs

Does anyone know? I have not confronted her yet because I don't want to alert her so that she'll build up a defense or lies. I know where she lives / conducts her business.

I found out what she charged in NY for her 'services' is against the law. In fact, it's a felony. But I have no real proof other than my bank and credit card statements showing how much money I've withdrawn (she uses a jewelry store to collect credit card payments).

Has anyone gone through this? What should I do?
