This one is new to me - someone working in London but based in India - a really rich guy of course - contacted my friend - he was 'a friend of a friend', looking for property to purchase on the west coast of Canada. Just for a laugh we sent the guy pictures of a $2.5M property with all the identifiable info removed. The guy in London wrote back saying he loved the place and would put us in touch with his accountant who would take care of money transfers and documentation. The accountant, who presented himself as very official - really REAL, like all the other scammers, wanted someone on this end to take out a home equity loan 'in good faith', and open an account in which the money from the loan would be deposited. It was a little confusing but I think the idea was that they would have access to the account and would deposit the money for the property into it so we could pay for the property. Our money wouldn't be touched but would simply sit there as proof that we were trustworthy. Uh huh.
