Phonebill to High? Unwanted Charges?

We all know that sometimes your phonebill can skyrocket from a variety of things out of stupidity like overuse of phone options but do you know somethings are not from our mistakes but of those of others. It has gotten to the point were fraud and scams within a phone company is quite common. One of those companies is Integretel a third party company, which has a variety of aliases such as: Atlantic Mgmt, Infoservices900.com, and even as webhosting services.

How can this happen?

There is a variety of ways that this happens, most of it involves the use of a computer. There are popups that leave a nasty cookie in your computers temporary files. Now clicking cancle sometimes doesn't work, and the program still installs into your system without your consent.

These programs that install usually appear on your desktop and in your harddrive. You may think how did these get here and delete them thinking that you have gotten rid of them. The truth is, you have not. Some of the software is installed into your system as if it were invisible, unoticable, and is ghosted as a background running program. This marks the first process of being beat by the system of fraud.

After this happens there is a dialer that has been put into hibernation for a while, but it is said that the dialer can be activated by remote access through ones modem from another person. Scary? thats not even half of it.

Now that someone can easily activate this program and allow ones modem to dial out, they can basically make it dial any number they desire, and most numbers are 1-900 numbers. They will either be numbers of the estate of pornography, false prize winning organizations, and whatever you can think of, just use your imagination.

Now weeks go by and finally the phonebill comes in, and most of us think its the same old stuff and don't bother looking at what all goes on the bill. But hey, one day you say what the heck lets look, and BAM, you see a charge stating that you made a 2 minute call to a 900 number for the great price of $40.00 or greater. Happy? Stunned? Surpised? You bet your butt you are.

So You Call The Phone Company

You decided to take this up with your phone company and ask them why you have this bogus charge on a phonecall you never made. They either will tell you that you are liable for it and have to pay or they will tell you to call another company by the name of Integretel. So it comes down to you having to face the evil corporate empire, things seem to be getting intense now huh?

So you get someone on the phone and they politely ask you about what your problem is and you explain about the charge to your phonebill. They probably will respond and say that it came from your computer dialing out or that you or someone in your residence agreed to the service. HAHA, maybe they did? NOOOO!!! This is a way they try to "Punk" you out and make you think oh maybe this did happen.

Truth is it didn't. So they will continue to give you a list of things on and on, and when they finish just tell them that you have searched on google and other documents that their company is known for fraud and scams. Now their return response is that they will lower it to 50% or do you believe everything you read. The 50% lowering is a good sign, continue telling them all about how bad they are and the evidence you have and eventually 100% of the charge will be dropped.

After that they will probably respond and say that the charge will dissapear in 2-3 billing cycles. Well, I'm not going to pay for something I didn't do. So don't pay even on the current bill you have, because if you do, you are just giving in. Right?

This is known as...

“Cramming” is the practice of placing unauthorized, misleading, or deceptive charges on your telephone bill. Entities that fraudulently cram people appear to rely largely on confusing telephone bills in order to mislead consumers into paying for services that they did not authorize or receive.

So What Do I Do Now?

Well first settle this with your phone company, mine was with Bellsouth and they gave me Integretel. Then begin to start to question about the charge. If all goes well, good for you! But if not, even if it does or does not you should then contact your Attorny General, The Federal Communications Commission, The Federal Trade Commission and file a complaint against the company.

You won't be the first to do so either because this company has a background in the courts of doing the same scam a few years back. So the more complaints the faster we can put a stop to this evil company making possible billions off of unsuspecting victims.

Get a good virus detector

There is a variety of virus detectors but I have found that most of them cannot dectect software running in the background ghosted until I found one that stumped the evil dialer to the ground. I found the great software at http://www.avast.com. I recommend the avast 4 home/pro edition along with the antivirus version. These will work together to cleanse your computer.

The thing also good about this is that it logs all the viruses or trojans into a text file in which you can store in documentation for evidence.. Yippie!
