I am thinking of purchasing from the above company. I have managed to contact them on the telephone but do not know what else to look for. I think they are legit.

The website is Electronics4Wholesale.com.

Please can you give me your views.

here are some things you can do:

check with the secretary of state site for the state in which they are incorporated.

look at terms and conditions of payment: if it is money wire or western union only, I wouldnt deal with them.

google their name for signs of complaints etc

The good:
- They answer the phone
- No horrible English on the site

The bad:
- Site looks like crap; It looks like they're selling off the back of a truck
- Off the four product categories they are selling (Ipod, PSP, LCD TV, Laptops), only two have some availability (Ipod, PSP) the other two are 'temporarily out of stock'. Yet, they keep them in the catalog, but not in the shipment pricing lists; They only ship PSPs and IPods...
- Domain was registered September 2005. That's NOT a long time ago.

The irrelevant:
- 'Someone' on Alibaba says they are legit. No way to verify the poster.

Conclusion:
- try mailing them with readnotify before doing anything else. Check their mail headers (I can help you with that)
- only agree to purchase by credit card, and only agree to do that if your credit card allows refunds you in case of fraud.
- how are the prices compared to market prices? very low? if so - cut and run.
- personally, I wouldn't buy from them. Better to lose an opportunity than to enrich a fraudster.

They're using AOL, so I really can't tell - IP-to-geography is useless in this case.
Sometimes Romanian/Nigerian scammers with fake sites use another ISP, so you see a discrepancy between their 'claimed' location and their 'actual'.
Can you buy with a Credit Card? They say they accept Amex; Check if it is insured (i.e. if the CC company will refund you the money in case you've been a victim of internet fraud) before ordering

Also, isn't there some kind of Business Bureau in NM you can check with?

We basically have two services: collections

http://scamvictimsunited.com/phpBB2/vie ... ht=cnycorp

and the value added service of hand delivering your payments to the supplier while calling you on the telephone and inspecting your merchandise before delivery. Replica products ok, quite common here in China.
