I am obviously new here on the site. I have had tons of scammers talking to me on the dating sites. I had my very own Nigerian scammer that I decided to have fun with. I knew right away from the pictures she sent that she was not real. So I played along for awhile waiting for her to ask for money. She was stuck in a hotel down there. She went to get her brothers personal effects and insurance claim. He was American but down there doing a construction job. Hmm, why did an American get life insurance in Nigeria when he was only to be there for a month? So anyway, long story (talked with her for about 4 weeks), she gave all her money to a man she met down there and the hotel took her plane ticket and passport until she could pay the bill. I told her that I had talked to an FBI friend of mine and that the hotel was guilty of kidnapping a US citizen. By the time I was done she was sure that there was an FBI swat team on it's way to kick the doors down and arrest all of the hotel employees. She was freaking out and started trying to change here story and she finally ended mad at me but relieved that the hotel was going to give her stuff back and that I could call off the FBI. Since then I have learned that a good question to ask suspected scammers is "Where do you live right now?". It makes them stop talking to me and has made a lot of them just close their accounts completely.
I am very glad I found this forum and I look forward to reading more.

Hey Docra, and welcome to the board. It looks like you might be interested in playing with the scammers and having a little fun. If this is true, PM me and I can show you how to do it safely.

I love reading stories of scam artists falling for counter scams, especially when the scam artist manages to lose money on the deal (via expenses like phone calls and travel, not actual counter scamming!). I don't think it's more effective at combating scam than simply ignoring people phishing, but it's much more satisfying!

i love it !!
once you get the game down it can be fun to play a twisted version of scamback emotionally but its draining; thanks for the post; they hate details esp about locations and even the time of day; did u know they buy baskets and boxes of used cell phones and assign phony locations and home numbers to them; they cant be tracked; i dont think every scammer is a sociopath; some are just career crooks; but none care we are their prey;

a more spiritual note is that after the exhaustion and shock and etcs. we all know, i had to forgive the guy just to help heal myself; i will not be over this until i get a chance to tell the media or bank trainers or someone who can EDUCATE AND PREVENT theft and fraud; this is just accepte as if we are too stupid; wait until it knocks on their doors! my scam is in the middle of being resolved unknown result i will post all learnings for others; if only we could prevent more scams and end their hunting ground

i always wonder where they get the great photos also; i feel like those people are also victims- being paraded by scumbags
