I am obviously new here on the site. I have had tons of scammers talking to me on the dating sites. I had my very own Nigerian scammer that I decided to have fun with. I knew right away from the pictures she sent that she was not real. So I played along for awhile waiting for her to ask for money. She was stuck in a hotel down there. She went to get her brothers personal effects and insurance claim. He was American but down there doing a construction job. Hmm, why did an American get life insurance in Nigeria when he was only to be there for a month? So anyway, long story (talked with her for about 4 weeks), she gave all her money to a man she met down there and the hotel took her plane ticket and passport until she could pay the bill. I told her that I had talked to an FBI friend of mine and that the hotel was guilty of kidnapping a US citizen. By the time I was done she was sure that there was an FBI swat team on it's way to kick the doors down and arrest all of the hotel employees. She was freaking out and started trying to change here story and she finally ended mad at me but relieved that the hotel was going to give her stuff back and that I could call off the FBI. Since then I have learned that a good question to ask suspected scammers is "Where do you live right now?". It makes them stop talking to me and has made a lot of them just close their accounts completely. I am very glad I found this forum and I look forward to reading more.
