Scammers are calling people telling them that they have won a sweepstakes sponsored by the Make A Wish Foundation. This scam preys on the victims trust of the good name of the company that the scammers are hiding behind. There was a full article on this that you can read at http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/scam-aler ... 214&page=1

Remember, you have to enter a sweepstakes in order to win, and if there are any fees connected with your winnings a legitimate company could take those fees from your winnings. You would never need to wire them any such fees.

I joined your forum today to find out if anyone knows anything in regard to Jan Sagat. He was linked on one of your posts to the 2 men convicted in NY fed ct. I represent a woman whose incapacitated husband (frontal temporal lobe dementia) has given large sums of money to Jan Sagat. He also gave him a credit card for his use which has been maxed out. As recently as June/July, 2010, it appears that he traveled with the incapacitated gentleman to Europe to access a bank account. Unfortunately, my client's husband is in complete denial of any scams (he has sent tens of thousands to foreign countries) and he doesn't have red flags to stop him. My client was appointed as her husband's temporary guardian in an attempt to stop the flow of scams. The husband presents really well - he is a retired engineer. Any information you could provide would be very helpful in fighting this disgusting scam. This family, like many on your site, has been victimized. What makes it so sad is that his dementia impairs his ability to understand it and makes it so much easier to continue.
