hello im new to this site my name is mike im selling a car on craigs list.com and this is and email i got for and offer on the car, why would i have to get and cashier check sent to me if i posted the car under the phila. area craigslist just meet me and take a look and pay well this is an actual email that someone sent me on the offer of my car..... Sounds Good. I will like to proceed with the transaction asap and my mode of payment will be via Electronic cashier check drawn on my bank (Bank Of America) as there are too many scams on internet with bogus Money Orders and personal checks,the electronic cashier check will be sent to your email so all you need to do is proceed to purchase Instant check paper-Business voucher at any Office depot or stationary store to print the check and immediately after you print the check proceed to your bank or a branch of Bank of America to cash or deposit the check,the instant check paper-Business voucher cost $20 only but i will offer you $50 to purchase the check paper,i should have handled this myself but i am not available to do this now i am currently away for my company seminar that is why i want you to do this to facilitate the transaction.The car will be picked up from you by my shipper so you don't have to worry about shipment of the car also i am in no rush to pickup the car till funds are cleared at the bank. Electronic cashier checks is fast,secure and best method of payment because it is instant once you purchase Instant check paper-Business voucher all this process can be done within an hour. Proceed to delete the advert of this item if my mode of payment is accepted and get back to me asap to complete this transaction. Regards Blaine |

Wow, no questions about the vehicle at all in this one. And you get to go and have the check printed yourself. They sure are getting better and better. If you go and have the check printed they don't even have the expense of mailing it to you, and making up the fake check isn't an issue either. I really like how they inform you that there are too many scams on the internet, I'm sure that makes you feel more comfortable dealing with them. I would advise you to add to your ad that you will only deal in person with the transaction, and release of the car will not be made until the check comes back to your bank as paid by the other bank. This might not avoid all scammers but, it sure will put you in control of the sale of your car and not the other way around. Shawn, co founder of this site, would be more able to explain how this scam works since she was taken in this way. In any case it is great that you checked this out and will not be taken in by this scam. |

my guess is that they will say that they are moving to that area, and want to send you a check to hold on to the car . . . the check will be for too much and they will ask you to send part of it back . . . that is where you will be out the money since the check will not come back as counterfeit until after you send the money. stay safe, sell local and in person . . . for cash! |
