Here is the link to report scams to the FBI. Just click on your state on the map to find out the contact information for your local FBI office.

http://www.fbi.gov/contact/fo/fo.htm

Also, the Internet Crime Complaint Center is partnership between the FBI, NW3C and the BJA.

http://www.ic3.gov/

At the bottom of the page it says "File a Complaint"

How anonymous is IC3, do they require IDs, telephones, etc.?
(Very sorry if this question is offtop)

They ask you for name, address, age, gender, phone number and email address. They do not give the information out to anyone else. They use some of this information for the annual reports on which scams/crimes are on the rise, what age groups are hit most, to see if there are different areas of the country that are hit harder than others . . . stats like that.

The problem with scams is that most victims do not want to report them, so it is harder to get a true "snapshot" of how much is lost.

New E-Scams & Warnings

CIRCULATION OF FRAUDULENT E-MAIL CLAIMING TO BE FROM U.S. CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION (CBP)

04/27/09—A spam e-mail claiming to be from former CBP Assistant Commissioner Thomas S. Winkowski is currently being circulated. This attempt to defraud is the typical e-mail scam using the name and reputation of a federal government official to create an air of authenticity.

To Report to any govermental agency a crime and not a phishing/spam emails,

collate all evidence and prepare an executive summary.

The FBI itself does not have an email address to report abuse but the Department Of Justice has.

Be prepared as if does go to the AG, and to court, you will be a prosecution witness.

This in itself has detered many victims.

For whistle blowing, the steps are the same and send it from an untraceable IP

address. ie Cybercafe or hotspots.

To report here are some email addresses and do not abuse them as these folks do not take to

nonsensical reports.

You must include evidence and sources.

Example :

to info@cenbank.org, - Central Bank Of Nigeria
info@efccnigeria.org, - Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
fraud.alert@met.police.uk - Metropolitan Police Service Of The United Kingdom

I walked in to my local FBI office twice with my file and hope. They told me that they could only take the file is over $500,000, not under that number, I think they can contact the Nigeria police to catch the scammer (I found the scammer is a building in Nigeria), but they just said "soory" to me, even did not want keep my file in their office, they said because nobody will interest in to look at my file! they asked me go to my local police, I told them I just camoe out for there because the police asked me to go to FBI! Then they asked me to go to our district attoney office, I called the district attoney, they said the police should send my file to them, and said 1 police already told him my case, he think it was a civil case, not a criminal case, I told him THIS IS A INTERNET SCAM CRIMINAL! hOW CAN YOU SAY IT IS A CIVIL CASE! He said it is my fault because I sent teh money to the scammer!
Oh..., told me in our country, in our so many govenment departments, who and how they can help me or any of USA citizen internet victims!

You are hurt and desperate, but you need to slow down and take time to see this in the right perspective, There is a difference between not wanting to help you and not beinng able to help you. The FBI does not have any jurisdiction in Nigeria. Buildings do not scam people. You are chasing a ghost in Nigeria. No one can help you catch a ghost. You need to come to terms with the fact that you lost money. Keep pursuing this and you will only get more frustrated. In the end you might loose more than just money.

Victims, pennywise is correct. You need to take a step back. If you do not then you are setting yourself up to be a victim of the recovery scam. You can file a complaint with the IC3. They track internet scams and will post warnings and give updates on scams.
