Hello;
I just responded to an apartment I saw for rent on Craig's List. There were photographs of the apartment; it looked beautiful and at SUCh a reasonable rate. It seemed too good to be true, so as a naturally curious person (and real estate professional myself), I responded.
First of all, there was no name, phone number or e-mail address listed in the post, so I tried to send an e-mail through the Craig's List link and it didn't go through. It kept bouncing back as undeliverable. I thought maybe the post was so new the link wasn't fully functioning, so I tried it again and again, but each one kept bouncing back. I then sent it from another of my e-mail accounts and it did not come back undeliverable. I had no way of knowing if it even worked.
A few days later, I was clearing out my spam folder and saw a response. I guess it went through after all from my second account. The person really didn't answer my specific questions about the apartment, but gave me a run down of all the same info about the apartment. She also attached a rental application in PDF format. Also, at the bottom of the e-mail, she had her name and a "property management" firm name, which was her name (Alexandra Hughes, of Alexandra Hughes Properties). I responded with the same specific questions, and got no response.
Two days later, the same e-mail (same wording) came through from the same e-mail address (
sqperry@gmail.com), but this time it was signed by Samantha Perry of Samantha Perry Properties. It also had a rental application attached.
I have NOT opened these files because it's obviously some sort of set up, but I don't know what. Has anyone else gotten similar responses from responding to an apartment for rent ad on Craig's List?
Thanks,
Cee
