I got this in my email, and have attempted to track it... but have reached a dead end. Does anyone have info relating to this particular 419?

I represent ATLANTIC Import and Export Company based in Australia. My
company exports agricultural produce and other goods/services for world trade.

This has been around a little while, it is a scam that gets you to cash counterfeit checks for them. You think you are working for a company and in reality you are made a 3rd wheel in a scheme to bilk thousands out of unsuspecting customers. Not one check that you take through these people will be real.

Translation: They are looking for reps to cash their BOGUS checks and send them back to money via Western Union. The check might "clear" but a few days later it will come back as counterfeit and you will have sent the money to these bas*ards! You will be responsible for payback. He says his company is based in Australia. How come when you did this WHOIS search Lagos, Nigeria come up? Hmm, maybe because they are notorious for trying to scam anyone and everyone....

I really appreciate this ino from you all. I just received the same email and was curious about the source. I sent them an email requesting more information about thecompany so I could research it and of course just got back an email with the same jibberish in it.

Here is what the CEO sent back to me:

Some of our customers are ready to start making payment right now. The way it works is this, I inform the company that we have a payment officer, they call you to ascertain and confirm a few facts and then they eventually make out payment. You receive the payment, you remove your share and based on instructions recieved from us, remit our own share. If we are able to build and sustain this business relationship(based on trust of course), then the frequency of the money will definately increase.

I would greatly appreciate it if you sent your complete contact details(Full names, mailing address, phone/fax numbers); this is a safe measure to know exactly who we are dealing with. I would pass it along to our customers and within a few days they would contact you and perfect modalities of getting the payment across to you. I will endeavour to contact you via the phone number you have provided before then.

This is so scam it wreaks!

Run do not walk, tell these jerks your onto their games and then block all emails from them. Do not give them personal information and if you have refuse to take calls from them.

If one of their little cronies calls, hang up on them or better yet, blow a police whistle as loud as you can into the phone before slamming it down on the hook.

Australia has a sophisticated banking system with established branches in most of the world's leading financial centres. There is no need to set up an arrangement with a private individual. If I was a company based in Australia (and I am sometimes), I would arrange for European payments to pass through the London or Paris branch of my bank and in the US through either New York or Los Angeles.

The problem with the internet is that it opens an international gateway for relatively unsophisticated people who are suddenly offered all sorts of things that are well outside their experience. You are not allowed to drive a car without passing a driving test; maybe something similar should be required before you can connect to the internet.

If you are not experienced in the foreign market or country offered, do not assume that it is similar to home, but do serious research on what is involved. For example what do you know about South African Exchange Controls? Also, what do you know about Sharia Law as it relates to Interest payments?

Most certainly do not allow greed to blind you to the realities of such situations.

This is the second one with this name. But a new address. I hope this will be one more step closer in busting this fool!

I fell victim to this scam. I responded and thought I built trust. Now out 25k.

I deleted the letter. But I just got a new one that was from some guy in china needing a helping hand to move his plastics products. I checked the headers and they were from some where completly differant.

Man this dude just wont give up! Why hasn't some one shot this guy?
I think killing scum in his country is legal. Isn't it? Or maybe some one can hire a voo doo master to put a hex on him. Africans go for stuff like that.

i came across this scam, and was almost out 7,500 .. luckily i was able to work with my bank and the local authority to make this go away .. it's just amazing that people have so much time on their hands to think up junk like this
