Last month I was contacted by "Jerry Wigan" on the social networking site Facebook. He had expressed interest in purchasing an item I had in the marketplace section of the site. He later sent me a check for more money that the item was worth and urged me to cash the check and forward the rest of the money to "Evita Foster" in London. There were quite a few things that made me wonder about the validity of this offer, mainly the mailing of a check and the use of Western Union to forward the money to someone I did not know. I held on to the money and a few weeks later found that the check had bounced and had not received any further email contact with the scammer(s). Please be aware that even social networking sites are not safe from scammers and that even young adults may be targets of scams.

Glad to hear you did not become a victim, and thank you for posting the information about the scammer on the site . . . it could save someone else!

Oh, that was great information and hope people who are facebook fan can read this so that they also to be aware for that kind of fraud. Don’t trust immediately for the people we don’t know and it is better to ignore the friend request if we don’t know them. I will share this information to my friends.
