My sister has been taken in by some Australian lottery through a Nigeria bank scam. I know it's a scam, all of our friends and family know that it's a scam, my sister was even warned by the lady at Western Union and another person at a bank. She's got her head in the sand because she still believes that she has won $500,000. So far she has sent $1,500 through a wire transfer to someone in Nigeria, and when they asked for more she didn't have anymore money to send (thank god.) The scammer's latest trick was to send her some sort of business card overnight and have her take it to two different banks where she was able to draw $7,000 off of the card (this is supposed to be part of her winnings.) She was then instructed to wire transfer large amounts of money to four different people in New York. She did all of this and now has about a $100 cash left over.

I've heard of fraudulent checks, cashier's checks, and money orders, but I'm having difficulty finding anything on this card strategy they used. Anyone else know about this, and if so, what can she expect to happen next? I appreciate any suggestions or input. We just can't get her to see the light. It also doesn't help that she's mentally ill and is off of all of her medication, so she's really not making much sense right now anyway.

Thanks in advance!

I have not heard about this "card" angle . . . I will have to do some digging to find out more about that.

You said she is mentally ill . . . does she see a doctor for this? Could you ask the doctor to help you in trying to "get through" to her?

Have you shown her our site, or others like ours, and shown her how the stories match up? A true lottery would NEVER ask you to wire them anything. Read this information here, and show it to your sister http://www.scamvictimsunited.com/lottery.htm

All these lotteries are fake and they just run there ads for a limited time and when they gathered money they disappear. You just stop your sister and don't give her money to waste on these scams.
