Hello,
I'm worried because my father received an email (definitely lottery scam), but he thinks it's true... Even though I warned him about the Nigeria connection and other scams, he doesn't believe me and is waiting for his money...
He is so naive... During the last year, he has received a lot of mails from the Nigeria connection and believed them all.... ("They are good people, they work as lawyers, bankers, ... . They want to give me money! For sure")
My mother and me did a lot of research on these scammers and nearly all the e-mail addresses my father had contact with were on scam blacklists... We received a lot of phone calls of people with strange names from around the world and it stopped (what a miracle!) after my mother confronted one of the callers that she thinks these people are from the nigeria connection.
But since then, my father was so naive to contact these people by email more than 600 times.
Today he showed us a lottery email very proudly and was completely convinced about it...
He doesn't think it has to do with the nigeria connection or other scammers... but if you do a little bit of research on the internet, you will find out that the "contact person", a so-called Mr. Micheal Coker, claims agent, is involved in the nigeria connection...
We deleted all the mails he got from these strange people and everything he wrote them, but my father still believes they are innocent and they will give him money... We changed his email address and the password, so he cannot do anything in the internet... :D :D
Here is the mail he received:

From: Claims Dept. English Premiership Promotions <epl.2008@yahoo.com.hk

(I think that the email address is very strange... Why would a British company have such an addy???)

The Premier League
30 Gloucester Place

What do you think about that message? :?: :?: :?:
I think that it is definitely a fake... It is strange that my father's name is not mentionned, only "Dear Winner"...
My father has already got in touch with those people and now they have arranged a strange bank account in the UK for him, with hundreds of thousands pounds on it... I bet it's all fake...
What can I do now??? How can I make these people stop contacting my father???

What will happen now? Will they threaten my family or do they just give up contacting my father if he does not react on these messages any more?? What will happen to this strange bank account?

Please show your father this alert issued by us along with the FBI

http://www.scamvictimsunited.com/downlo ... ertSVU.pdf

and show him the information on our site.

I would also be happy to speak with him about it.

Also, if your parents have a joint account, maybe your mother could go to the bank and work with them to up something where large amounts of money cannot be taken out of their account without BOTH of their signatures. I know that some people do this once their parents are older, so that the adult child has to be the second signer on the amount, to help with elderly parents who are not thinking clearly any more. At least THAT way he would not be about to take thousands of dollars out of thier account and send it to the scammers.

If they are a co-signer, you cannot limit their ability to take out money. A co-signer has all the rights to remove any amount of money, but not close the account, that takes 2 signers.

You have to remove them from the account.
