My former roommate gave a friend of mine my social security card and birth certificat thinking the guy would use them to flee a criminal case he is facing. The guy he gave them to turned around and gave them back to me. My instinct is just to move out and never talk to the guy again. I don't think he will do anything but I figure if any kind of ID theft happens I know who to point them to. Couple friends of mine seem to think I should press charges though and that if I don't I will be screwing myself down the line if anything does happen. I really just wanna be done with him though. Any advice would be welcome Thanx.

You need to protect yourself as how do you know this is the ONLY person he has handed your info off to?

make a police report immediately, fraud flag your bureau reports with all 3 credit bureaus and get away from that moron asap before your id is really toast.

Check your credit bureau reports who knows what little surprises you will be finding. for more information on what to do go to http://www.idtheftnightmare.com and click on what to do now tab.
