ATM Scams is a very dangerous scam. so beware of that.A team of organized criminals is installing equipment on legitimate bank ATMs in at least two regions to steal both the ATM card number and the PIN. The team sits nearby in a car receiving the information transmitted wirelessly over weekends and evenings from equipment they install on the front of the ATM (see photos). If you see an attachment like this, do not use the ATM and report it immediately to the bank using the 800 number or phone on the front of the ATM.

The equipment used to capture your ATM card number and PIN is cleverly disguised to look like normal ATM equipment. A “skimmer” is mounted to the front of the normal ATM card slot that reads the ATM card number and transmits it to the criminals sitting in a nearby car.

At the same time, a wireless camera is disguised to look like a leaflet holder and is mounted in a position to view ATM PIN entries.

The thieves copy the cards and use the PIN numbers to withdraw thousands from many accounts in a very short time directly from the bank ATM.

I am looking for support and direction in relations to an ATM scam in which my daughter has become a victim. To summarize, my daughter received a automated call stating bank card deactivated and requesting her via phone to put in pin and card number.Unfortunately she did. This happened on a saturday. On Monday a invalid check was deposited in her account at an atm for 3,450.00 and 400.00 was withdrawn. The next daytTuesday two additional debit was done at a Walmart in another suburb for $500.00 and $2500.00. Needless to say by Thursday the bank discovered this was an invalid check and took what money she had in her account and the joint account with me. Although, my daugther notice the suspicious activity that tuesday and contacted them. The Chase bank denied her claim that it was fraud and is holding her accountable. They have cancelled her account caused other checks to bounce because they took the funds. It is know in the hands of a collection agency that has explained all of the negatives consequences if she does not pay. We have filed police reports in both towns, one has the video of the man making the atm deposit but the bank won't assist and change their mind. Does any one know what should be our next step. This happened two weeks before my daughter was graditing from college and she does not have a job to pay this debt back. WE NEED HELP!

In some asian countries these atm scams have created a mass hysteria these last couple of months. These scammers are like mafia that work together and have a good network. several MO they used are; they use skimmers on the real atm by replacing the original card insertion with the one they have, this way they can copy the data on the atm card, the also placed a small camera near the keypad to steal the PIN, next step is they used the data they have stolen to create new atm cards with a special printer, other MO is they put a something on the card hole and when your card stuck in there, they will pretend as an atm technician, they will ask for your PIN and told you to go to the bank right away and leave your card inside the machine, when you're gone he will finish all the cash you have, sounds simple but it works.

Hi to all,
I heard of ATM scams before before didn't read these scary incidents.
Still there are lots of people who didn't aware of ATM scams. Includes those who didn't check their bank statements.
