If a reputable bank in my hometown issues their Official Bank Check, payable to me, in a transaction where I am selling an automobile, what is my risk that the Official Bank Check will not be honored at my bank? Or that any kind of stop patment can be placed on the check?

If you can call the bank that issued the cashiers check and have them research whether that check was issued to you. I dont know how your bank does things but mine requires a name to issue the check to and they type the name on the check for me. They then record in a book that the check was issued. If you really are worried take it to the bank it was issued from and cash it there then take the cash to your bank and deposit it.
