Post subject:  Scambaiting

I am in the process of scambaiting the person who tried to scam me. She/He thinks i am their best friend. I even told her that i would send 20grand to her to help with her pregnancy, and of course this person is in Nigeria. I am trying to find out as much info as i can on her. She asked me to help with her business in africa. I knew it was all a scam to begin with but i wanted to see if i could try and mess with her as much as possible. First thing i did was call the bank the check supposedly came out of, a fake of course. And OMG she/he whoever even said they love me. I may have been born yesterday but i wasnt born stupid.

OK, so what would you say, is the best way to strangle them slowly? By this I mean drag the whole shooting match to months (If possible) and do I dare give out personal home address (I doubt they are in the US anyway, but still) so that they could send the "Check" they usually promise?

scamsmasher if you are going to try baiting any of these people you should first go to http://www.419eater.com and read everything you can over there about doing it safely. You say they are not in the U.S but they have friends who just might be in your neighborhood. It is better to be safe then sorry. These people are dangerous and have killed for their purpose. Giving them any personal information could be trouble.

I agree with pasttired!

Also, in addition to the excellent advice from pasttired, go to Yahoo.com
or some other site offering free email accounts and set up an account with an alias username. THEN!!! Send a test email to your primary email address and inspect it thiroughly for anything that might ID you. Correct anything that does by editing your account and retest until it is ID-FREE!
Then, if you are still inclined, send your scambait.

If I may add some suggestions...

1. Don't bait the scammer who scammed you. Why? He may have your personal details, such as phone numbers or street address. Even if he doesn't, he already knows how to push your buttons and manipulate you.

2. Get a baiting mentor. Both http://www.419eater.com and http://www.scambaits.com have mentor programs in place where experienced baiters teach new baiters the ropes. 419eater's mentor coordinator is Cherrie, and scambait's is Fungus.
