I recently posted a message about recieving a cashiers check from a scammer claiming to be an owner of a Textile company. He wanted me to cash the check and send him the money minus 10% to a location in Africa. I got the check and deposited it in my account, but then upon further investigation I found out it was a scam. I was very worried that the bank and authorities would accuse me of bank fraud, eventhough i never took any of the money out. I called the bank and to my suprise they already had the situation under control and identified me as the VICTIM and not as the Fraudster. I think this is a step in the right direction against these scammers, because the banks are starting to understand the problem and are making the correct assumptions about the depositers. I want to also take a moment to thank this site for all their great help and support. Good luck everyone!!!!

Hi there I'm new to this site sadly I haven't figured out how to post my own message!

My situation is similar to yours it started out as a loan I paid money to this man sent him all my details. He wanted more money which I did not send being £1450. He introduced me to this man who said he owned a furniture business in Scotland who would introduce me as a representative/agent for him to collect overdue funds from his client. His client contacted me sent me a cheque for £5400 asked me to pay it into my account which I did not do. Kept calling me sent me an email warning me it said you think you can keep my money you think you can hide from me I know all about you you think you will live to enjoy that money with your children I will find you I know where you live watch your back I want the money immediately.

Like I said I didn't report it to the police over here but I have reported the people involved to abuse at yahoo.com.

Do you have any views you can add?

I would report it to police just to be on the safe side since he did make violent threats. I am sure nothing will happen to you but just better to be safe than sorry. He is just trying to scare you into sending money. I am glad you didn't get scammed.

If you want to post your own message, first go to the section you want to post in, for example this post is in the Counterfeit Cashier's Check section. Once you click on Counterfeit Cashier's Checks, if you look to the left, above the very first post, there is a button that says NEW TOPIC . . . click on that to start your own message thread.

Hope this helps
