I had a car advertised on the internet for several months and received many email messages of the sort asking me to accept a Cashiers Check in excess of the asking price on the car, and return the balance of money to the buyer.

I recognized these as being scams and did not bite.

I did have an interested party from Sweden that wanted to buy the car. He wanted to send a cashiers check or money order. I told him NO.
I will accept US Dollars Cash Only.

He was coming to The States on business and wanted to stop over and see the car and seal the deal, but he did not want to carry all that much cash.

My solution was to have him purchase American Express Checks in Sweden. When he arrived and approved the car, we went to the Bank together. After the Bank confirmed some code number on the Express Checks with American Express, the checks were cashed and the cash was handed to him. He handed the cash to me and I deposited it in my account.

Smooth transaction and no worries.
