I do not know of any "face to face" local support groups for victims of these scams . . . that is part of the reason why we started this website. When I spoke with other victims right after we were hit with this scam I said that we needed a support group so that we could share our stories, but I wanted to help people every where, not just where I live, so that is why we went with a website instead of a local support group.

Maybe support groups for ID theft would allow you to join. I will do some searching for groups in your area and get back to you.

In the mean time, don't get so down on yourself. We all make mistakes (that is why most of us are here!), but we need to learn from them and if we can share our story with others and help to save them from the same pain that we went through then in the end something positive came from a negative situation.

Oh, and about the all caps thing . . . don't worry, lots of people who are new to message boards do that their first time, but now you have learned that in the world of message boards all caps means that you are yelling the words (if you use all caps and start put things in bold or underline them too, then we know that you are yelling so hard your face is turning red!) 8)

Most of us here have been through exactly what you're going thru now. Right now is a very difficult time but you "will" get past it. I too was devastated when it happened to me also feeling all alone but I found this site and everyone here has been wonderful in their support. I too will see what I can find as far as support groups in your area but there are none in my area either. If you go to church maybe you can speak with someone there. I know right now that it's very difficult to trust anyone, but remember that not everyone is a scammer. But also remember that anytime you come across anything or anyone who seems too good to be true and you're just not sure about them, post about it here and we'll help you look into it.
