I was just wondering do I need a lawyer to get the charges dropped? I want to go to the Army and no one else will help me. My mom has no idea what to do and my dad really doesn't know what to do either. Please help me. I am so scared. I am only 20 and I don't want to go to prison or have this on my record.

I would recommend finding a lawyer. Those who have gotten a good lawyer have gotten through this process much easier. Those that try to go it on their own have a battle ahead of them and it may not come out good.

To the rest of the forum . . . anyone know a good criminal lawyer in Georgia that they would recommend? (I know of a great one in Minnesota)

Whenever you are criminally charged NEVER EVER represent yourself ALWAYS get an attorney, if you cannot afford one go to court and tell the judge you cannot afford an attorney , they will appoint you a public defender.

You cannot just tell them to drop the charges, most criminal courts will persue conviction no matter what you say. You have to have legal help in pushing some buttons, the right ones to get the prosecutor to back down.

It took me 2 years to do this and one continuance after another. The magic word is CONTINUANCE, theyw ill get tired of continuing . But that buys you time to get experts lined up and witnesses lined up.
