Heres my situation:

For the last 2 months i have been posting free classified ADs on the web for my Akai MPC2000. So far i've had a few responses but most of them were from other countries other than mine (U.S.). I don't deal outside the U.S. anyways. Well the person i talked to (Instant message) seemed genuinely interested in what i have to sell. This was about 30 days ago. Now 2 days ago i receive a Cashiers Check for $3500 USD. I immediately contacted the guy who said he was sending the check to tell him i recieved it and it was way more than what i was asking ( Which i didnt tell him). He told me to Western Union the difference to New York, But he was contacting me from the U.K. I have'nt tryed to cash the check yet, kind of stalling the guy until i get more info. It kind of felt fishy when i opened the envelope and seen how much money i had recieved. From that time on and maybe during the whole talking about the product time, i saved a few emails and conversations. I will post them for everyone to see and wish to hear feedback and suggestions. The reason i gave the subject such a title is, i'm broke as all hell, my job doesnt pay much and my children need things and $3500 will definitely help out a bit. Plus if this is a scam of some sort and i do cash the Cashiers Check, Andy (Thats his name) will never recieve what i have for sale.

Anyways heres the conversations and emails. I also included a picture of the check and envelope it came in. I always keep records of business transactions. My info has bee blocked out for my privacy.

I had recieved the Cashiers check a couple days prior to this conversation and this was his response to my email saying that i had recieved the check. I DID NOT tell him how much i recieved in that email.

This Picture is Huge and no matter how many times i resize it, it eaither gets way too small or it stays way to big. Sorry for the inconvienience.

I totally understand your statement above but you'd be better off that way then end up in jail for a couple of years and totally distroying your life as well as that of your family.

This is definately a scam, I've seen enough of them to recognize them in my sleep.

Do not cash it. Take it to the police in your area so that they have a record of it. They will advise you from there what to do.

Also stop all contact with them. These people can be quite dangerous if provoked. You'll start getting emails and IM's and they may get angry and threaten to call the police on you etc but just do not respond any more. If you have to, change your email, your phone number if you gave it to them and change you ID on your messenger. Some of these people here can tell what a nightmare it is to get arrested in front of their families and co-workers. Always listen to your inner self as you had this "feeling" something wasn't quite right to begin with, your intuition is almost always correct.

I wish i could catch this guy and be violent for a few minutes. It just totally pisses me off to know that he just wasted my time. I actually thought i had a sale and some money was coming in. Thank (insert the diety of your choice) that i'm smart enough to know a bad thing when i see it. I've done business before over the internet and it was never this nerve racking. I would be lying if i said i never heard of this kind of scam, but the one that i heard of is in my spam box in my email. I feel bad for the real trusting ppl who have been taken advantge of and fall for the too good to be true emails offering Hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars for nothing. Anyways, thanks for all who responded so far and the future responses to come. I'm pretty sure the temptation when you have the (so-called) money in your hand, it's hard to let go, especially if thats what your lacking (money).
