How it works:
You receive a job offer via e-mail appearing to come from CareerBuilder.com. They will send you a cashiers check and ask you to cash it and send it via western union to a person they assign. You will find out the cashiers check is counterfeit days after you wire transfer the money. Here are the sites they are running at this time, remember, they change their domain names often but use the same website template. They have also been know by other names such as Concordia, Public Wish Foundation, Amalia, Abante, Dio, Almeria, Patria, Adelia, Adeona, Alstede, and Adria.

All of the sites below are running concurrently as of 4/12/06:
http://www.adelyhome.org - 4/11/06
http://www.dairahome.org - 4/11/06
http://www.elenahome.org - 4/11/06
http://www.elsiehome.org - 4/11/06
http://www.elainehome.org - 4/11/06
http://www.almaryhome.org - 4/10/06
http://www.cameliahome.org - 4/5/06
http://www.golsonhome.org - 4/3/06
http://www.cordiahome.org - 3/22/06
http://www.albertahome.org - 3/21/06
http://www.elynahome.org - 3/20/06

Almost looks as if they are going down an alphabetical list of domain names.

This is what is called a Payment Processing Scam. Scammers put together what appears to be a legitimate job opportunity for you to work for them as a collections agent for an overseas company, you are instructed to gather checks from so called companies that owe them money, cash the checks and send the money minus a commission through western union to the scammers.

Clue: Other countries do have banks, and people in those countries have bank accounts, there is no need for us to cash their checks for them.

If you or someone you know believes you are a victim of such a scam or you are suspicious of a check you received the best way to verify the check before you cash it is to track down the account holder and ask if they issued the check to you. DO NOT rely solely on the bank who can only tell you if there is enough money in the account to cover the check, the bank has no idea if the check was or was not issued to you unless you are sent a cashiers check that does not check out against the bank ledger.
