I was scammed by a stolen/altered check. The check was drawn on a paint and coatings company in western Canada. The people who scammed me washed the check and changed it to may name as the payee. It took the Canadian bank three months to return thischeck to my bank. We had to make up the money. By the correspondence between the two banks, I am not sure that the company in Canada understood that I was a victim. A batch of their checks was intercepted in the mail and used in this check cashing scam. I wonder if they contacted the Canadian authorities regarding the theft of their checks. I have thought about writing to them to see if they reported this to their police. I have contacted the Secret Service but heard nothing from them. Advise please. |
