Help, I am getting a little scared here. I was dealing with these guys on a car purchase and wire back shipping charges and all that. But after some internet research and great sites like this I realized it was a big scam. I closed that email address and everything, so no word from the scammers in 3-4 weeks, then today I get a Fed ex, and am shocked when I open it to see a counterfiet Cashiers Check for 17k, I tracked it fed ex website and it was sent from IL, even though I am not in contact with these guys anymore they do have my address and now thanks to fed ex a copy of my signature.

Any help or advise will be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Please hold onto the check. I was scammed with two fraululent checks. The counterfeit one was on an Illinois bank.It came to my house by UPS. I wonder if it is the same group. Do you remember any of the names?

You are right it is a scam. You can call the originating bank on the check and alert them that you have a counterfeit.
DO NOT TAKE IT AND CASH IT!
Don't worry about them having your address, if they wanted a bunch of addresses they could easily be found onthe web, they will not track you down - that would cost them money that they don't have because they didn't scam you! I am not sure why it came from IL, sometimes they hire (unknowing) people to send these out for them fromt he states to look more legit.

Wife receive a counterfeit check from Illinois in beginning of September.

Were the checks counterfiet or Qchex, there is a difference

These people will stop at nothing to get you to cash the check including threatening you with the law. As the board has told you do not cash this check. Stop this chain of crime. Turn it over to the police and tell them your story of being scammed. You are not the first, trust me. Keep copies of every thing you have. I would suggest that you have your email adjusted so you can see the headers and print or save everything.
